Here is Zhekai Li (李哲锴 in Chinese) .

I am now a third-year master student majoring in Electrical Engineering (EE) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and I am preparing to pursue a Ph.D. in Operations Research or Operations Management (OR/OM) at a U.S. university starting in the Fall of 2025.

I am extremely fortunate to be advised by Prof. Ruihao Zhu from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and Prof. Cheng Hua from Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Education

  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering
M.S. in Electrical Engineering Sept. 2022 ~ Mar. 2025
  • Huazhong University of Science and Technology, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
B.S. in Electrical Engineering Sept. 2018 ~ June 2022

Research Interests

My current research is primarily centered on the value of Exploration and Adaptivity in Sequential Decision-Making, with a special focus on proactively seeking informative feedback and uncovering unknown attributes in the environment. The exploration of adaptive sequential decision-making has gradually gained attention due to the pressing need for approaches that are not only effective today but also prepare systems to handle future uncertainties.

I am currently working on the pure exploration pronlem in AI Drug Discovery (AI-DD). “Ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being at all ages is essential to sustainable development.” The fusion of sequential decision-learning and healthcare problems has received extensive attention under the urgent need for more efficient and effective approaches to disease prevention, life extension, and population health improvement, as well as treating disease, bringing revolutionary changes to the development pattern of the healthcare system all around the world and influencing everyone’s life. I am deeply committed to this meaningful cause, dedicated to bring even the slightest well-being to the world.

I am equally passionate about the Low-Carbon Economy Research in Sustainable Operations, with a particular focus on coordinating renewable with traditional energy sources, and advancing energy-efficient, cost-effective production technologies. With past research experience concentrated on the technical enhancement of physical systems, I am also interested in exploring the business side of engineering challenges, especially how modeling and optimization techniques can be leveraged to make resource-constrained decisions that maximize overall welfare.
